מגדולי הלוחמים של צה״ל בשנותיו הראשונות, לוחם ביחידה 101 ובצנחנים בפעולות התגמול של שנות החמישים. משה דיין כינה אותו הלוחם העברי הגדול ביותר מאז בר כוכבא. ב-1956 נפצע קשה בפעולה וניצל בזכות ניתוח שנעשה לו בשטח, ואחרי שהחלים הקים חווה על רכס כוכב הירדן, שקרא לה ״אחוזת שושנה״ על שם אחותו שנרצחה.

One of the great fighters of the IDF's early years, in Unit 101 and the paratroopers during the reprisal operations of the 1950s. Moshe Dayan called him the greatest Hebrew warrior since Bar Kochba. In 1956 he was gravely wounded in action and saved by surgery performed in the field; after recovering he built a farm on the Kochav HaYarden ridge, which he named Ahuzat Shoshana after his murdered sister.
