Prayer (tefila)

The 'service of the heart', in which a Jew turns to the Creator in praise, request and thanks. There are three prayers each day: morning, afternoon and evening, instituted by the patriarchs and the Men of the Great Assembly. The siddur is the ordered prayer book, the spiritual timetable of Jewish life.
