Purim

A festival recalling the rescue of the Jews of Persia from Haman's decree to destroy them, as told in the Scroll of Esther. The scroll is read, gifts of food are sent to friends and charity to the poor, and a joyful feast is held, over sorrow turned to gladness and hiddenness turned to deliverance.
