Hilula

The anniversary of a righteous person's passing, the yahrzeit, regarded in Jewish tradition as a day when their soul shines and advocates for their generation. It is customary to visit the resting place, study their teachings, and kindle a candle in their memory. The Aramaic word hilula means a celebration, expressing the joy of the tzaddik's ascent on high, hence hilula of the righteous.
